Last Saturday I woke up praying for nice weather and, luckily, my prayers were answered. Tom and I were meeting my friend, Kat, for lunch and I’d booked us a table at The Boundary Rooftop in Shoreditch. I’d gotten a bit giddy in the lovely weather we had a few weeks before and decided that it would be nice to find an outside space for our catch up. Then the weather turned wintery and I thought all our hopes were dashed. Thankfully not.
The Boundary is in the heart of Shoreditch, East London and about a five-minute walk away from Shoreditch High Street overground station so nice and easy to get to. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the cutest doorman who checked our reservation and directed us to the lift to the roof.
OK, so the views from the roof may not be all that spectacular compared to a rooftop in Central London but that wasn’t what this was about. When we walked out on to the roof we were greeted by a gorgeous decked area. We were offered the option to sit inside the conservatory (which means that the rooftop is open all year round) but as the sun had actually shown up for us we took its lead and sat outside. It was nice and warm sitting in the sun but even if it hadn’t been we were sat right by a fireplace. There were also a good few heaters dotted around and I spotted shelves of blankets as we came in. Definitely prepared for when the sun goes down and it turns a bit chillier.
The staff were attentive but not overbearing in any way and our drinks order was taken pretty quickly. We uhmmed and ahhhed a bit but decided cocktails were definitely the way to go. Why wouldn’t they be? They were absolutely delicious.
When it came to food we had Mediterranean breads to start and then we all decided on steak and chips and my word, was it delicious. I was way too busy scoffing it down to actually snap a photo for you but the steak was huge and totally melt in your mouth delicious and the chips were super skinny and nice a salty. It also came with a little pot of béarnaise butter. Yum. I well and truly fell off the diet wagon that day.
Our steaks were washed down with a bottle or two of white and it was bloody lovely. It wasn’t exactly cheap but was fabulous as a treat. I’d highly recommend The Boundary to everyone and the rooftop was ace.
As you can see we had a marvelous time in the mirrored lift.
We finished up our high-class afternoon/evening with a trip to The Diner for ice cream and hard shakes. Followed by a pint in Far Rockaway and a fair few more in The Old Blue Last. Well, you can’t keep your fancy pants on all the time can you?
Have you been to The Boundary? What did you think?
Kisses,
