I’m not sure I really have a specific weekend morning routine, you know. I think it depends on what my plans are for that particular weekend. This weekend, for example, will be all about Tom. It’s his birthday today. He’s a massive 27 years old (ancient, I know!) So this morning is tea drinking and present giving in bed. (Not like that – get your mind out of the gutter.)
Putting this weekend aside as an out of the ordinary one our usual weekend routine is all mostly about catching up on sleep and drinking a lot of tea.
I wake up pretty early. I think I’m now attuned to the alarm going off at 6am and wake up at that time even when there isn’t an alarm. Most of the time I’ll manage to go back asleep after a quick flick through Facebook and Twitter.
If I can’t I usually get up and go into the living room to catch up on all the crappy TV I’ve Sky+d that Tom won’t watch with me. Things like Sleeping With The Family and Drag Queens Of London. Sometimes, we have plans that involve cake and I’ll start baking at this time too.
By the time it gets to a reasonable time I’ll go and take a cup of tea into Tom in bed, we’ll sometimes catch up on the news and stuff on TV and we’ll talk about our plans for the weekend. Sometimes though (I think it’s the smell of the baking cake) Tom will appear before this and the same scenario will happen on the sofa instead of sat on the bed. (Usually he makes the tea in this version too.)
That’s about it. Occasionally I’ll make a fancy pants breakfast for us but more often than not it’s a bowl of cereal before we head out for the day.
We’re not the most exciting of couples. Do you have a special weekend morning routine that would put us to shame? Should we start making more of our weekend mornings? Am I missing out on something here? Is this a “thing” and I didn’t even know?
Kisses,
