I’m considering a career change. Well, I’d like to. I’m not sure if I’ll actually go ahead with it but it’s nice to dream, right? I studied Public Relations at university and then, when I school left, I had big ideas of going into event management. I never did and instead worked in the press office of a local council before going to work at Glasswerk. Writing and editing took over my career and that’s what I’ve been doing since. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy what I do but maybe it’s time for a change.
This weekend just gone I went back to school and spent two days at a hotel in Hertfordshire learning all about professional wedding and event planning. I’m very pleased to say that I passed the course and now have an accredited diploma.
Like I mentioned earlier, event planning is an area I’ve always really wanted to work in. Then, after planning our wedding, a good handful of people told me they thought I should go into wedding planning. I’d requested a prospectus from The Wedding Planner School a couple of years ago but never actually done anything about it. I didn’t ever remove myself from their mailing list though and so when their local course was advertised I decided to grab the bull by the horns and sign myself up. I’m really pleased I did.
I really enjoyed being back at school and learning something new but I’m still not completely sure if I’ll do anything with it. I’d love to be my own boss and start my own wedding and events company but is that a little bit too far? Is it worth having a go? What would I even call it? What do you think?
Kisses,
