Everybody has seen the picture of the girl in the bubble face mask looking like a cloud, right? If you haven’t it’s here. As soon as I saw it I had to know what it was she was using because it looked fun and I wanted a go too. It was pretty easy to find out exactly what the product was and soon enough I had my hands on a pot of Black Pig Bubble Mask*.
I didn’t even really know exactly what it was supposed to do to my skin when I bought it, I just really wanted to give it a try. According to the box, it claims that it will make my skin young and energetic again. I’m not sure my skin has ever been energetic in the first place but sure, I was excited to see what it could do.
The instructions on the box aren’t very helpful, but it’s not exactly rocket science. After cleaning my face with my favourite cleanser of the moment, Ultrabland from Lush, I applied quite a thin layer of the clay mask. It does come with a little spatula in the pot but I found this pretty awkward to use so tossed it to one side.
It doesn’t spread as thickly as a normal clay mask and I just kind of felt like I had a dirty face at first but after a few minutes, it starts. It feels a bit odd a first like you’ve got a stray hair tickling your face until you realise it’s the bubbles. I really enjoyed the feeling of it bubbling up. It feels exactly like you would imagine sticking your face in a bowlful of fizzy pop would feel, without the gross stickiness. It tingles and tickles and maybe if I’d sat still while I had it on, it might have felt relaxing. I’ll have to let you know about that one.
It actually continued bubbling for longer than I expected which was good. I’d have been really disappointed if it had stopped really quickly.
Once the bubbling started to die down, I massaged the mask into my face and left it for a few more minutes.
I wiped off all the bubbly residue with a warm, damp muslin and stepped back to assess my new young and energetic skin! Well, it may not have knocked any years off me or… I still don’t get the energetic thing… but it did make my skin feel really clean and so, so soft.
It wasn’t very expensive and part of me thought I’d only use it the once just to try it out but I liked how soft it made my face. I’ve since read that it is supposed to be pore refining too so next time I try it I’ll be looking out for that.
All in all, I’m glad that I picked it up.
