I haven’t been to a gig in Nottingham for a long, long time. In fact, the last time I graced Nottingham Rock City with my presence was when I went to visit a school friend in uni there and we went to see Feeder. I won’t even begin to contemplate how long ago exactly that was! *feeling old!*
Get Happy
The Get Happy Tour rolled into Nottingham on a cold, miserable Monday night. The atmosphere inside couldn’t have been more different though. The air was electric and heavy with heat and excitement. Everyone was there for a good time and Bowling For Soup are almost always guaranteed to deliver.
Too Much Fun
Last time I saw Bowling For Soup I was very, very pregnant. So being able to dance and bop around properly this time was very welcome. And dance around I did. I’m pretty sure it’s an impossibility to stand still at a Bowling For Soup show. There’s just something inside you that feels the need to be belted out at top volume and accompanied by a jig.
Drunk Enough To Dance
Especially when they are playing Drunk Enough To Dance in its entirety. If you’re not entirely au fait with BFS’s this album includes such gems as Emily, Girl All The Bad Guys Want and The Bitch Song. They rounded out their set with all of the fan favourites you could want too including the theme tune to Phineas and Ferb!
Apart from the fact that I occasionally get tongue-tied trying to sing along when they insist on playing songs at practically double speed. There will never be anything that I don’t like about a Bowling For Soup show.
The only question is… how do I get a seat at the bar on the side of the stage next time?
*I was invited to the show for review purposes. All words and thoughts are my own. If I didn’t love it, I’d say so.
