If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you’ll know that this year I’ve become a bit of an escape room aficionado. I’ve been racking up the visits to them and I haven’t yet failed to get out. I’ve even set a few records.
I’ve tried a few of Escape London’s rooms now. I’ve tried The Cabin, Escape The Seven Seas and Taken. And the other day I went back to Shadwell to try Witchcraft and Wizardry*. That’s all three rooms in their Shadwell space that I’ve done now and I think this was my favourite.
The witchcraft and wizardry theme was brilliant. (I mean, I’ve mentioned it before, I love waving a wand around!) It wasn’t the most difficult of the three rooms but I do think it was the most fun. In fact, I liked the decor so much I kind of wanted to move in. But maybe that’s just the Morticia Addams in me coming out.
We did hit a slight hitch with one of the puzzles. But we later discovered that the reason was the original clue to solve the puzzle had been broken the day before. So they had replaced it temporarily with something else that wasn’t as clear to decipher. Even then though, we still managed to break the room record and escape in just 38 minutes.
Witchcraft and Wizardry is suitable from age 10 and is available at Escape London’s Shadwell branch. Tickets are available from about £26 per person.
