As I predicted last month, August was a bit quieter than its predecessors thankfully. I still managed a month packed full of fun and nice times though.
I started the month going back to school. Specifically, to The Faculty of Eatucation courtesy of Gingerline. It was a lot of fun and made me laugh. This was my first Gingerline experience and has definitely made me hungry for more.
I got over excited and made Tom drive all over the countryside so we could pick our own fruit and then get some lavender and sunflowers. We were in the car for ages between all the different places but it was so worth it. It was nice to be out in the sunshine surrounded by green.
We went to Hertfordshire for the annual Pyke Family Barbecue. It’s always a lovely day and is nice to catch up with friends.
We got a long weekend visit from my mum and dad. It was lovely to see them and Cece is always spoilt rotten when they’re around. They looked after her while Tom and I went to Oxford to belatedly celebrate his birthday. We stayed overnight at Crazy Bear in Stadhampton, in a super swish suite. I do spoil that boy!! Ha.
I got a chance to catch up with some friends I haven’t seen for a while when Steven held girls’ night in at his. It was lovely to spend some time with him, Louise and Felicity.
It wouldn’t be a month in my world if I didn’t do at least one escape room, right? A trip to Aldgate saw me taking on the Kingdom Of Cats with death by a thousand scratches if we didn’t escape.
I was invited to help Deliveroo recreate that iconic photo of lunch atop a skyscraper. Instead of travelling to New York to sit on top of the Rockefeller Center like the photograph, we went to Guy’s Hospital. We may have only been at half the height of that original snap but it was high enough for me.
As if Kingdom of Cats was my only escape room this month. I did two in one evening. We took on Escaped London’s The Bloody Elbow and Da Vinci. The Bloody Elbow was actually pretty scary, although that could have just been me freaking myself out. I did scream a few times though.
I also got my craft on at Make More Festival in Victoria Park. I got to stretch those craftsy muscles that I haven’t in a while and forgot how much I enjoy making things. I enjoyed my necklace workshop with Maiden Aunt so much that I’m planning to join her again for a mind crafternoon in December.
This takes us up to the Bank Holiday Weekend and we started Saturday with a leisurely brunch with Rosie and Ian at Wood Street Coffee before taking a stroll across the Walthamstow Wetlands while Cece napped. On the way back we stopped off at Lloyd Park for her to let her crazies out and feed the ducks before we went home to collapse in front of The Secret Life of Pets.
We managed to squeeze in two rounds of adventure golf at Lost Jungle with Tom’s parents before the heavens opened. We retreated to Battlers Green Farm Shopping Village for food and some solstice from the rain. There are some lovely little shops there and some hella expensive ones too.
I ended the month catching up with Steph and bumping into the Love Pop Ups crew at All Star Bowling in White City. It’s a gorgeous venue, they say the décor is Malibu themed. I say it’s a little more old Hollywood glamour. Either way, it’s beautiful. The entertainment was interesting too. I’ve never had a caricature drawn of myself before so was interested to see what damage he’d do. I thought it was pretty good actually. Although, I completely forgot that I had a nose ring until I saw this!
Like I said, another busy month but a little more sedated than they have been recently. Here’s to September.
