Hidden away, at the back of 100 Hoxton is a little, two-person escape room by Fun Times that goes by the Lift of Doom.
The story goes, you’ve been kidnapped by a crazy scientist who is planning to use you in his next round of experiments. The only way to save yourselves is by sneaking to this service elevator when the guards are distracted and hoping that you can get out before they notice you’re gone.
Once you’re locked into the lift you have 17 minutes to get out once the recording has finished speaking to you. With only having such a short time period in which to escape there aren’t many challenges and puzzles to overcome.
I’ve never been in such a small escape room before and I thought it was quite an interesting concept. I do wish that the challenges had been a little harder though as we managed to finish it in eight minutes. The first puzzle with the lift buttons was definitely my favourite though and probably took us the longest to figure out.
If you’ve never tried an escape room before and want to see what all the fuss is about before you commit to one of the big rooms with a group of friends this is a great little starter. If you’re a seasoned professional then I’d have to advise you to give it a miss this time as you’ll probably find it a bit too easy.
