Cheese! The topic for day 4 is Food Glorious Food and cheese is my pretty much my favourite food item in the world. I totally stand by the fact that there is no savoury food item you can’t make, at least, three times better with the addition of some cheese. This is actually a blog post I’ve been meaning to write since I discovered this cheese company at the Cake and Bake Show. I simply cannot rave enough about how good the Cheshire Cheese Company is.
I admit, a cheese company wasn’t what I expected to be one of the highlights to the Cake and Bake Show back in September but it really, really was.
After a taste of a couple of the cheeses they had on offer I was forced to only choose two truckles to take home. It was a tough decision because I wanted it all. In the end I came home with their Vintage Gold Extra Mature Cheddar and their Caramelised Onion And Rioja Cheddar. Oh my word, they’re so, so good. So good in fact that Tom had to ration them so I didn’t just scoff all the cheese in about twenty minutes once we opened them.
The Vintage Gold disappeared really quickly but because Tom thinks the Caramelised Onion and Rioja is a bit too strong there is still a small amount of that left. I really want to eat it but then I’ll be devastated that there’s none left. We do have some other cheese but it isn’t nearly as good as the Cheshire Cheese Company’s offerings. Running out of it isn’t necessarily a bad thing because it does mean I can order more but I am supposed to be on a diet and if we do order more I don’t think I’ll be able to abstain from eating it.
It is nearly Christmas though and I’m sure that means I’m allowed to eat my bodyweight in cheese so these guys should be expecting an order from me soon. I think I might go for the Black Bob this time (it was tough to pick between that and the Vintage Gold at the show) and I’m excited by the idea of Sticky Toffee Heaven Cheddar too.
In fact, speaking of Christmas they have gift packs and hampers for sale too. Maybe I should ask Father Christmas to pick up a cheese a chutney hamper for me for Christmas. They even have a Cheshire Cheese Club that I want to be a member of too. I will not rest until I’ve successfully sampled every type of cheese they have on offer.
So, have you tried a Cheshire Cheese Company cheese? Which was your favourite? Are there any other cheese companies I should look up?
Kisses,
