So this is a great start to Blog Every Day In November isn’t it? A day late with my first post. Naughty Laura. The first topic is introductions. This is a little more difficult than I first anticipated. You’d think it would be easy introducing myself, right? I just don’t want to go over old ground.
Introductions always feel a bit awkward I think. Especially when new people are introduced to me. I’m rubbish at remembering names and I do try really hard but I’m rubbish. I remember faces and recognise people but can’t usually remember where I know them from.
Apart from being awkward at introductions I often find my name gets confused when I introduce myself to people. Yeah, I know. You wouldn’t think that the name Laura is too difficult to get your head around. However, quite often I get called Moira or Lauren. Moira is usually over the telephone so it must be something to do with my accent and the way I say my name. Lauren is the one that annoys me the most though because that’s usually by email. Laura is in my email address. Laura is in my email signature. Laura is the way I sign off my emails. How can you still reply to me and say Hi Lauren? Am I wrong to get annoyed by that?
Anyway, enough ranting. This post was supposed to be an introduction to me and I intended it to be a ten facts you might not know about me list. Instead I told you how rubbish I am at remembering people’s names but how upset it makes me when people don’t get mine right. Hypocrite, Laura!
So yeah, to the list and what I set out to do in the first place…
Introduction To Laura
This is me doing one of my favourite things – drinking tea.
Ten things about me that probably aren’t very interesting.
1. Breakfast is pretty much my favourite meal of the day. Going out for breakfast is one of my favourites and eating breakfast for dinner is always good.
2. Ironman and Batman are my favourite superheroes. I know that they aren’t really superheroes just very, very rich men with some super cool toys but I think that’s what makes me like them the most. The thought that if I had enough cash I could join them.
3. I really love tea. There’s nothing a good cup of tea can’t make better, especially if it’s in a gin based cocktail! I have tea based prints on the wall, a gorgeous flowery teapot, an amazing full vintage tea set and some super pretty tea strainers. Tom thinks I’m obsessed with tea paraphernalia.
4. Having a bath is one of my most favourite things to do. I can spend hours in the bath, especially if I have a magazine or a good book.
5. I’m in the process of teaching Tom that northern gravy is far superior to the super runny dishwater that you get down south. Gravy up north is nice and thick and coats your dinner. Southern gravy is like a cup of warm water that was once shown a pack of Bisto.
6. I’m very stressed about my upcoming birthday. I’m not quite ready to turn the age I will be.
7. I’m starting to worry I’ll never find “the one” when it comes to shopping for a wedding dress. I’ve found lots that I think are really lovely but nothing that I really, really want.
8. I still don’t know what I want to do when I grow up.
9. Made In Chelsea is my total guilty pleasure. I allow myself to get so wrapped up in it. It’s like a pantomime.
10. Pikachu looks after my dirty laundry. We got a Pikachu toy as a housewarming present and it lives on top of our laundry basket in the corner of our room.
So there we have it. A whole post all about me.
