I’ve never been the sportiest of girls, I’ll be honest. PE was the worst, I will only run if I’m being chased by bears and getting sweaty is not high up on my agenda of fun things to do. Every now and then I’ll find something that I enjoy, that is true. I loved CrossFit but had to give that a rest when I became pregnant with Cece… I never went back. I discovered the wonderful world of roller derby and had to hang up my skates when I was pregnant with Rory and the subsequent issues I had with my back delayed my planned return and then well, as you know, lockdown happened and I couldn’t go back anyway.
Despite finding a couple of things that I have enjoyed doing, I have no natural talent for them. Exercise and fitness will always be a chore to me. I’ve come to accept it. I have no natural aptitude for active activities. You know, as much as I wish I did, it’s ok. I have talents in other areas… I think, I hope!
Anyway, that is why I’ve decided to put myself to the test and from today I am committing to forty days of fitness. Yep, I may have no athletic ability but I do love me some alliteration. I also thought that telling people about it and trying to do something good at the same time would help me hold myself accountable. That’s why I thought I’d also try and raise a little bit of cash for Macmillan Cancer Research and if you’d like to spur me on and chip in a couple of pennies (I know money is tight in these crazy times) I have a just giving page here.
I’m starting this evening with a body conditioning class outside and will be keeping track of everything I’m doing on my Instagram. I’d love to keep trying different things so if you have any suggestions or great workouts that you’ve done at home let me know! I’d be grateful for all recommendations.
Oh and wish me luck!
