Day trips are always fun and exciting. They give you a chance to explore a new place or city and get as much stuff done as possible. While often a bit hectic, you benefit from saving loads of money on hotels and food. Plus, a day trip lets you go to loads of different places every single weekend!
The only hard thing about a day trip is figuring out what to pack. Well, that and figuring out where to go. Packing is challenging as you need to bring some essentials but also don’t want to overdo it. It sucks to carry a massive bag on your shoulders for the whole day – especially if you go shopping and add to your baggage. With that in mind, here’s how you pack for a day trip:
Bring a small backpack
Backpack, rucksack – call it what you want, it’s the best thing to bring on a day trip. You only need a small one, so there’s no point in getting a hiking backpack and taking it with you. Check out sites like Asos, and you will find loads of small rucksacks that fit the job. You need enough room for the rest of your belongings, but the idea is that you don’t have to carry it around everywhere. It’s on your back, so you keep both of your hands free for shopping bags!
Pack your essential accessories
Next, you have to fill the bag with some essentials. Start by picking out any outfit accessories you may need. I’m talking about hair bands, gloves, maybe even a scarf, etc. Also, as you see on sites like www.eyeglasses.com, you’ll need a pair of sunglasses. This is only relevant when it’s sunny, but don’t forget them, or you’ll spend the whole day squinting. If your bag is big enough, you might be able to fit in a cardigan/light coat. Again, this is just in case the weather is a bit unpredictable.
Take your emergency supplies
Lastly, you need your emergency supplies. Unlike a proper holiday, you don’t need to pack your passport, travel insurance, and other vital documents. Instead, you need basic things like your purse, maybe a railcard, and so on. Then, pack some other emergency supplies just in case you need them. Bring some feminine hygiene products if it’s nearing your time of the month, take a portable phone charger with you, etc. All of these things are relatively small, so they will fit in your bag with no problems. Plus, they’re light, so they won’t weigh down on your shoulders. Just like that, you’ve basically packed everything you could possibly need for a day trip. Oh, you could add some makeup supplies into your emergency supplies as well!
There you have it; how to pack for a day trip! As you can see, you’re packing very light. Most of this stuff can fit in a handbag, let alone a small backpack. You don’t need to bring loads of things on your trip, so don’t trick yourself into thinking you do. Pack light, bring the essentials, and you’ll be fine.
