I used to love the whole idea of the Hard Rock Cafe as a kid. It was always a huge exciting treat to visit one and I have some lovely memories of going to them in London, New York and Toronto with my family. I guess because there isn’t one in Liverpool and it always part of some sort of holiday when we went that it seemed extra special.
So, needless to say, I was pretty excited to hear that Hard Rock Cafe is giving music fans the chance to get up close and personal with some of the most iconic clothing from the world’s greatest musical superstars when the must-see “Hard Rock Couture” memorabilia exhibition hits the original home of Hard Rock – London. As Hard Rock Cafe gets set to celebrate its 45th birthday this year, the iconic exhibition will be on display at Ripley’s Believe It or Not London from 3rd February to 10th April 2016.
The aesthetic of rock and pop stars has influenced the fashion world from city streets to couture runways and is a deeply ingrained part of our culture. Hard Rock Couture presents some of the wild, wonderful and trendsetting clothing from Hard Rock Cafe’s expansive collection which adorns the walls of its Cafes around the world. Items on display will include a feathered Dior jacket worn both on and off stage by The Killers front man Brandon Flowers, Paul McCartney’s suit made by tailors to The Beatles, D.A. Millings & Sons London plus stage costumes from global superstars such as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Jimi Hendrix, Rihanna and many more.
Narissa O’Moore, Hard Rock’s European Marketing Manager commented, “This is the first of many exciting activities we have planned to celebrate 45 years of Hard Rock. We scoured our 78,000 piece collection to pull together a collection that will truly wow our guests. The collection showcases a unique part of music and indeed fashion history and gives fans an opportunity to see that history first-hand.”
Lucy Waddell, General Manager at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! London added, “We are absolutely delighted to be hosting this extraordinary collection of music memorabilia, this will be a fantastic addition to the 18 galleries we already have at Ripley’s London and I’m sure our guests will thoroughly enjoy marvelling at the amazing exhibits on display.”
I’ve never actually been to Ripley’s but I really want to get a good look at this exhibition so I definitely think it would be rude not to visit next month. Will you be popping by? What are you most excited to see? I just wish I could try on the feathered jacket because I remember it and it was beautiful!
Kisses,
