This Saturday was quite a bright and sunny day. Instead of wrapping myself up in a big, snuggly jumper and taking in the sights and sounds of the city I found myself in the dark and somewhat dingy upstairs room of a north London pub.
Hertfordshire five piece Scholars were playing an all ages matinee show and I just couldn’t pass up the chance to see them. I’ve previously raved about this band and shared their new single, Blinda Data, with you. So I thought I’d put my money where my mouth is and toddle across town to see them.
The crowd may not have been particularly huge but the bands stage (and most of the room, in the case of singer Sam) presence and enthusiasm could have filled a stadium. You can tell these boys love what they’re doing and, my word, they’re bloody good at it too. There wasn’t a still head or foot in the house which is definitely saying a lot when you compare it to the reactions the previous bands received.
Their set was quite short, the crowd wasn’t very big and it was awfully loud for a little room on a Saturday afternoon but they really made an impression on me, and a really good one too. Their tunes are catchy, their enthusiasm contagious and you can’t help walk away in good mood, humming their songs. I can’t wait to see them again.
How did you spend your weekend? See any good bands lately? What do you think of Scholars?
Kisses
