I go through phases of buying loads of nail varnish and spending hours painting my nails, refusing to touch things so as not to smudge them. Then I’ll go for weeks without doing anything to them. I look enviously at all the amazing nail art on Instagram and wish that I could do these super swish things too but I never do. I do love having painted nails though and I get bored with the selection of colours I have quite regularly. Because I tend to go months without using them my nail varnish it goes a bit lumpy and doesn’t go on as nicely and I’m disheartened with the whole thing.
Well, I needn’t feel like that anymore because Coloristiq have come to the rescue! For £14.99 a month they will send you three of the nail varnish choices on your wish list for you to play with before popping them back in their box and dropping them in the post box only to wait for your next arrival. Magic!
I love writing lists so flicking through their collection and choosing the shades that took my fancy was obviously one of the best parts for me. Plus, the bigger your wish list the less likely you are to know what’s going to be in the box when you open it – exciting! My first box* was all OPI varnishes and included Do You Have This In Stock-holm, Louvre Me Louvre Me Not and Alpine Snow.
All the nail varnishes are high-end brands including OPI and Essie and the selection of colours is vast. It’s not just solid, gloss colours either. There are glitter top coats, metallics, neons, all of your nail varnish dreams could be answered.
I loved the look of Do You Have This Colour In Stock-holm? on the site and in the bottle but when I put it on I was a bit disappointed with it. Which underlines why I think Coloristiq is so mega. The average OPI nail varnish is what – £12? If I’d bought this nail varnish, even based on a swipe across my thumbnail in the shop I’d have used it once and it would have been banished to the bottom of the drawer for the rest of time. Now I’ve saved that money and had swish nails using the other two colours over Christmas and new year. If Coloristiq sent me a varnish I fell head over heels in love with I’d go out and buy it but for now they’re taking all the hard work of choosing colours away from me.
I also think that if you weren’t the most adventurous with your nail varnish choices this could be the answer. Giving you a chance to try out colours you might never consider buying usually. A little toe out of your comfort zone.
I have friends that have hundreds and hundreds of bottles of nail varnish which takes over their room. Even my own modest collection soon adds up space wise and this fixes that issue too.
I think this is an excellent idea. Have you given Coloristiq a go? What did you think? Would you use a nail varnish rental service?
