Great Western Railway (GWR) have launched a destination quiz called Guess The West. It challenges the public to try to identify beautiful locations found in the South West of England, South Wales and London.
Using smart phone photos that were entered into this summer’s Capture The West photography competition, quiz takers are invited to share their score on social media for the chance to win a pair of first class, return train tickets. I’ve had a go and have established I am completely rubbish at recognising the places I do know and it has kick started a new list of places that I now really want to visit. Although I’ve spent time in London (obviously, I live here) and South Wales I’ve never explored the South West of England and these gorgeous photos have now propelled it to the top of my UK travel wish list.
The #GuessTheWest quiz and competition is open to everyone over the age of 18 and to enter all you have to do is simply share your score on Twitter using the #GuessTheWest hashtag. One winner will be chosen each week between 11 October 2016 and 7 November 2016. The competition closes at midnight on 6 November 2016.
GWR’s Head of Communication Dan Panes, said:
“With the entries that we received for #CaptureTheWest beautifully showcasing the destinations that we serve, we want to see just how many people know what is on their own doorstep, and how many are aware of what the UK, and the GWR network, really has to offer.”
GWR has over 9,500 services a week to beautiful destinations including Bath, Bristol, Penzance and Brighton, and they encourage everyone to become a great westerner; exploring more photographic destinations of the UK. Hopefully, you’ll be seeing a few of these on here soon!
Good luck, I hope you do much better than me at recognising the destinations!
